Among the best preserved historic homes in Lombardy, the Castello Visconti di San Vito stands in the heart of the city of Somma Lombardo and has undergone numerous modifications and expansions over the centuries.

Description

The construction of the fortress took place between the end of the 13th and the beginning of the 14th century at the behest of the Visconti family who, since 1277, had ruled over Milan. The Castle of Somma Lombardo was built as part of the defensive line along the Ticino River, between Milan and Lake Maggiore.

Residence of the Visconti di San Vito family until recently (1997), it is rich in works of art. Of note are a cycle of beautiful  frescoes attributed to Procaccini, the altarpiece attributed to Cerano in the chapel and the collection of shaving plates (530 pieces).

The visit takes place Friday 9 May, at 3pm/15.00.  

The visit takes only place when there is a minimum of 20 partecipants.

There will be for 10 participants an audio guide in english. For the other participants will there be an italian guide.
